FAQs

  • Q: I want to rent one of the Vacation homes I found on your website. How do I move forward with a reservation?

    A. Great! We offer a number of options for reserving a vacation home. Our website gives you the ability to request a booking online via credit card through the individual listing page. You can also send us an email through the listing page inquiry form or directly at rentals@lastkeyrealty.com with any questions or to request a reservation. Our reservation process is completely electronic to make it easiest for our guests, however, we are real people who answer our phones so we are happy to speak to you at length before any reservations are made. You can reach us directly at 305-292-6266, 7 days per week.

  • Q: I saw one of these homes on Craigslist priced lower than what is listed on this website. Which rate is correct?

    A. Stop! Halt! Beware! All of the rental homes listed on our website are managed exclusively by Last Key Realty, and we do NOT advertise on Craigslist or other similar sites. These sites are known for scammers. We do advertise through the HomeAway.com brand site (VRBO.com, VacationRentals.com, etc.) If you are ever questioning a listing that you also see on our website, please call us directly at 305-292-6266 to confirm.

  • Q: Why are some Key West Vacation homes listed as monthly rentals only, while others say they can be rented nightly & weekly?

    A. Key West rental regulations require that a home have what is called a "Transient Rental License" in order to be rented for less than a month at a time. Any home that does not have this license may only be rented with a monthly lease. Those homes that do have transient rental licenses, which are quite a commodity in Key West due to the termination of issuance of these licenses, rent for a significantly higher rate "per night" or "per week" than those non-transient homes which can only be rented by the month. Each tab in our Rental Properties menu allows you to filter by "Nightly & Weekly Rentals" versus "Monthly Rentals" for your convenience.  Entering your exact dates of travel in the rental search bar will produce only the results available over those dates.  If you are interested in comparing a month in a monthly home to a multi-week stay in a transient home, simply click "Flexible Dates" in the search bar to return both sets of options.

  • Q: Why do some vacation homes require a 4 night minimum stay over weekends?

    A. Our large (4+ bedroom) nightly rentals have a 4 night minimum stay requirement over weekends (stays that include Friday and/or Saturday night(s)), but can be rented for 3 nights during the week. Our smaller (1-3 bedroom) nightly rentals have a 3 night minimum stay requirement for weekend and weekday stays.

  • Q: How do I pay for a vacation home rental?

    A. Last Key Realty accepts payment via credit card, check, and wire transfer. We require an estimated 50% upfront to confirm your reservation. The full balance is due 30 days prior to check-in. If you are confirming a rental within the 30 day period before check-in, payment will be due in full at reservation time.  We do accept payment via credit card through our online booking system on this website.  If you prefer a different method of payment, please contact us directly to reserve your home.

  • Q: Is my rental deposit refundable?

    A. Your initial deposit is 100% refundable as long as you notify us of cancellation outside of the final payment deadline (30 days from check-in). Inside of your final balance deadline, your payments are non-refundable unless you have taken out a trip insurance policy, which we can quote you for until your final payment is made. Trip insurance generally costs about 7.6% of the rental total. Inquire with us for details.

Anything that happens during your stay, we are here to assist you. Our mission is to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
