"Casa Blanca. This property was immaculate and exceeded all expectations for what we were looking for our family vacation. We had several family members come to visit throughout our stay in Key West. They all raved about how wonderful the home was. The location was perfect. We were within walking distance of just about everything. The neighborhood was great. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were at home. It was clean, comfortable and had plenty of room for all our extended family. Excellent amenities and a gorgeous backyard with an huge pool. Shel Segel our property manager went over and above to make sure are vacation was one we would never forget. Anything we needed he was just a phone call away. Shel you are one of kind and we were blessed to have you as our property manager. Words can not describe how wonderful you are. I would also like to thank Alex from Last Key Realty for helping us find our vacation dream house. Our vacation started with you. You are absolutely amazing and a pleasure to work with. You found our perfect match. Our family we will cherish those memories forever. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is going to Key West and hopefully you will have the opportunity to work with Shel and Alex." -Cheryl C. 06/16

THE HOME...

"Casa Blanca 1888" has everything you could want for your stay in Old Town Key West. The home's central location in historic Old Town at White Street and Truman Avenue means you will be just steps from the White Street art gallery district, restaurants, grocery stores and yoga studios. The generous size and layout means that no one will feel crowded. This historic two story home, built circa 1888, was renovated a few years ago and magically holds its historic appeal while feeling incredibly modern and comfortable inside.

THE LIVING AREA...

Fine cherry flooring compliments the original Dade County pine walls that you will find throughout "Casa Blanca 1888". The 19th century is complimented by the 21st century in the kitchen, with custom cabinets, granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances including a double door refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, glass top stove, microwave and garbage disposal. Every cooking utensil is provided to prepare gourmet feasts for a group and the breakfast bar is the perfect place to sit while watching someone else do the cooking.

If you decide not to go out on the town, you can always watch the 42 inch flat screen plasma TV with DVD/CD/Surround Sound. The dining table seats six comfortably. The step-down Florida room overlooks the gardens and pool. A full bathroom on the main floor features a shower and is convenient to the large heated pool and tropical gardens. There are 4 porches located upstairs and downstairs, so there's plenty of personal space available.

THE POOL AREA...

The back yard has to be seen. In a town where any yard at all is a blessing, "Casa Blanca 1888" has a huge back yard and pool area. The pool is very large as well, with areas of sun and shade to keep everyone happy. There are two different dining areas and plenty of chaises. There is also a private outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach or pool.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS...

There are a total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms. All of the bedrooms are equipped with cable TV. The first bedroom is on the main floor and has a queen sized bed. The master bedroom, with a king bed and en-suite bathroom also has double French doors that open to a private back deck. The third bedroom features two twin beds. Fantastic stay at Casa Blanca!

We stayed for the month of June in this amazing home. Casa Blanca fit all of our needs--plenty of bedrooms for our grown kids, a wonderful pool, and we were able to bring our dog, which was the icing on the cake. The home brilliantly combines the old with the new, original moldings and woodwork but with all the conveniences that make it a great vacation home. There is plenty of room to relax, indoors or out. We'll definitely be back!

Casa Blanca

We spent a month at Casa Blanca and I have to say we loved everything about this home. It truly is a magnificent property. It had every amenity you could ever want and more. The owners really put a lot of TLC into this home and it showed. The house was immaculate, comfortable, spacious and a perfect home for our extended family of 8. The kitchen was large and well stocked which allowed us to cook most of our own meals. The bedrooms were a perfect size and had been freshly painted. There were plenty of bathrooms and an outdoor shower which was fantastic. The pool was huge and the landscaping around the pool was unbelievable. We spent a lot of evenings in the backyard relaxing, cooking out and just enjoying the scenery. We felt like we were in paradise. The house is perfectly located and a short walk to Duval Street. Our flight was delayed several hours so we didn’t land until after midnight. We were concerned when we got to the house that it would be dark and would not be able to find our way around inside. Thanks to Shel, he made sure the house was well light, A/C running and music playing when we opened the door. It was so welcoming, and that was the start of our vacation in paradise. Shel was absolutely amazing. I can’t thank him enough for all his tips on restaurants, sightseeing and just taking the time to stop by to see if there was anything we needed. You are a remarkable man and you were a big part of making our vacation one we will never forget. This home gets 10 stars in my book and I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful!

Casa Blanca was just as described. It was very clean and well maintained. Our property manager, Shel, was very attentive to our needs. The pool is amazing and my family thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Casa Blanca 1888 was 5 star property

Casa Blanca 1888 was a beautiful property and the perfect location for our family vacation of ten.  It was close to the beach and about a 15-minute walk to Duval Street. The home was absolutely amazing and beautifully furnished.  The open floor plan was perfect for our family. The owners put a lot of love into this home and it definitely showed with all the beautiful upgrades. This home is truly a 5-star property. We really enjoyed the beautiful outdoor landscaping and large outdoor pool. We spent several days and nights just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. We truly loved this home and will be back next year. Shel the property manager was absolutely amazing. What a wonderful man! He was a big part of making our vacation one we will never forget. He spent a lot of time showing us around the house and giving us suggestions on places to eat and attractions in Key West. He really made us feel extremely comfortable and I can’t thank him enough for that. If we ever needed anything he was there and had it taken care of immediately. He even stopped by to say goodbye on our last day. Shel you are one of a kind and I am so glad that we had the opportunity to get to know you. We will never forget all you did to make our vacation the best. I would highly recommend using Last Key Realty and I would recommend working with Alex. She was the agent I dealt with and she was wonderful and patient going over each property to see which would best suit our family needs. She was amazing and extremely knowledgeable. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Thanks Alex for everything.

Response from Last Key Realty:

Our company is unanimously gratified to find that with these guests, Casa Blanca 1888 and Last Key Realty accomplished our mission: to provide the same spectacular experience and magic we felt when we first came to Key West. Between the private outdoor sanctuary of the back yard and pool area, the open floor plan of the main living area, and the convenient location, Casa Blanca 1888 is a very lovely and special place to stay in Old Town. Perfectly Key West in its local art and furnishings, lovingly restored with up-to-date appliances and amenities, and fully equipped for all occasions. Shel is, as mentioned over and over again, very attentive and dedicated to making sure our guests are as happy as possible and enjoying their Key West experience for their entire stay with us. Alex loves to "play matchmaker" and is driven to match guests with the best possible rental home for their preferences. Most of all, we love hearing that a big family can come and enjoy this wonderful home together and create special Key West memories that will last and last...until, of course, their return visit next year.

A Key West Classic

The house was charming with all the amenities of home, big enough to offer guests personal space, and sufficiently updated to be convenient. It was a lovely place to vacation.

Simply Perfect

We so thoroughly loved Casa Blanca last year (see review 5/2/12) that we rebooked this 5 star paradise even before we left. The second stay proved to be as perfect as the first.  It's very obvious to us that this is not "just a rental" to the tasteful owners but a home very close to their hearts. Every item looks like it was painstakingly selected. When you go (and you gotta go) be sure to enjoy one of our favorite spots - the comfy chaise on the balcony off the master overlooking the lavish pool. We had a happy surprise this March to see that the owners had added "a charming ice cream table and chairs" to the balcony for a night cap or an eye-opening cup of coffee.

It's all great. Stop looking and be sure to say hello for us to Shel, the Guest Services Manager, who does a terrific job.

Response from Last Key Realty:

First of all, return guests are the highest compliment we can ever receive - and these particular guests are some of our favorites! We will call them "A&B" to respect their privacy - but "A&B" certainly do appreciate the beauty and charm of this lovely historic home. Their comment that the furnishings are hand-picked is a keen observation - the owners continue to purchase new artwork and furnishings that have turned this home into a mini-gallery of Key West artwork. The comfortable chaises & pool furniture (and new cushions added to all patio furniture in response to previous guest feedback) are indeed the perfect places to relax. We love to picture "A&B" sitting on the master bedroom patio enjoying the view of the pool and the breeze through the palm trees - experiencing the true luxury of this home. Thank you for your kind words, "A&B" and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

909 White St.

Shel and house were wonderful. Excellent location, great setting with a beautiful backyard. We will stay there, again. Close to grocery store, bike shop and easy ride to and from Duval St. Thank you for everything.

David G, 01/15/2013

Another wonderful experience at 909 White Street

This was our second stay at 909 White Street and this trip was every bit as enjoyable as our last. The house was wonderful and was exactly how we remembered it. This home has all of the modern conveniences that you could want, but it still has the historic, Old Town Key West charm. The house is somewhat centrally located between the beaches (both Smathers Beach and Higgs Beach) and downtown, which we really liked.  There is a full service grocery store less than a block away and there are seafood markets and restaurants within easy walking distance. To top it all off, the property manager, Shel, was absolutely fantastic and was always available to answer any of our questions. We have stayed in other homes in Key West where the property manager meets you to get you settled in and then seems to vanish into thin air. This is NOT the case with Shel.  He is on top of his game!

Overall we could not be happier with our stay. The house is perfect, it is in a great location and the management is top notch. This combination made for another great experience at this house and another unforgettable trip to Key West.

William L, 11/05/2012

Response from Last Key Realty:

We are gratified that our guests had such a great experience. Our goal is to spoil our guests for all other vacation homes, so they will come back again and again.

IF I OWNED A HOME.....

This home is very warm and welcoming. The kitchen is over-stocked. EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Just bring the food.  We found the living space enormous, and clean. Very tastefully decorated. Even got to love the DODO statue on the table. We stayed a month. My favorite.... the huge pool...  "have to watch out for the falling coconuts". The pool was wonderful. Plenty of outdoor space to sit etc. Sheldon was great. When we called him ref washing machine, he came right over. Very obliging and friendly. We really liked him. The pool is only cleaned on Fridays, so we cleaned it every day, and it was easy. Then we got the reward of jumping in. We also bought an extra lounging chair.  We treated this home as if it was ours - Respected and enjoyed it. IF I OWNED A HOME...... would love for it to be this one. To the owners:  thank you for having us as your guests. BEST VACATION MY FAMILY AND I HAVE EVER HAD.

Michelle H, 07/01/2012

My Dad's 80th Birthday

The photos show different outdoor furniture than that provided which was not comfortable and not enough loungers, only 2 when we were a party of 6. Printer next to tv. not working. Safe upstairs but not available to guests. All rugs were in need of a clean and the first thing you see when you enter is the bannister that had chips out of the paintwork making it look tatty. The back yard was messy with boxes and equipment lying around. The pool guy came and it was lovely for a few hours but being surrounded by so many trees the pool was soon dirty again. Don't sit anywhere near the palms as you may get hit by the falling debris. The whole house was dark and the seating area in lounge was small, also having the washer and dryer in lounge area not very nice. I wouldn't recommend this property unless it had a complete refurbishment. Our contact Shel was lovely and very helpful. The best restaurant we went to was Louie's backyard on the coast, fantastic. Martins was the best on Duval St. Sammy's was great for snacks and just across Truman. The house has a good location as you can walk straight down White street to the pier about 1 mile and you can walk down to Duval street too.

Response from Last Key Realty:

We at Last Key Realty were very saddened to read the review posted by this guest. According to our most popular Guest Services Coordinator, Shel (read other reviews for the rave response to Shel's personality and service), these concerns were not voiced during the guests' stay - and had they been voiced they would have been addressed immediately. However, we appreciated the feedback posted on this review and we took the concerns very seriously. Following this review, the owner of the property invested heavily in addressing and resolving ALL of the issues listed that were able to be addressed. New chaise lounges were brought in, the carpets were all replaced or heavily cleaned, all necessary areas in the home were repainted, new lighting was placed in areas claimed to be "dark," and the pool area was cleaned up of all items and equipment that left this guest dissatisfied. Although it is unfortunate that this guest chose to voice the concerns via this public forum rather than directly to us in order to resolve it, we always appreciate the feedback of our guests and take it very seriously. We urge potential guests at Casa Blanca 1888 to read through ALL of the reviews, and contact us directly to discuss this review so that we can assure you that all issues raised have been resolved.

Girls Trip down south and memory lane

I went down to Casa Blanca along with my college age daughter, her two cousins, my sister and my mother. We found the house great for the multi-generational extended family. The first floor bedroom was wonderful for my mother and having the master bedroom overlooking the pool/yard was divine. I was able to read on the balcony and have a little privacy while still being in the fresh air. Although I barely used the TV in my bedroom, we loved having the option of watching TV in all four bedrooms, which was especially handy for my mother and the teenage girls. The kitchen/dining area was very large and inviting, especially for Key West standards. The family room worked out well when we watched a few movies. Loved the pool area and we were able to bring our rented bikes into the backyard to keep them safe at night. The location proved to be even better than I had remembered when I lived in Key West as a teenager, given there is so much more going on further down Duval Street all the way down to the Southernmost Beach area. Loved being so close to the Cuban coffee place too! There are many great walks from the property, either to the downtown area or towards the beaches.....

We rarely used the car and walked or biked to most places, including the beaches and restaurants. We went to many of the restaurants Shel suggested, which were all good, and used the gift certificate at the Banana Cafe for breakfast- highly recommend! Casa Marina is still wonderful and the many newer restaurants were delicious too. Blue Heaven and Mangia Mangia were great for a group and Sol had the best fish dish we have eaten in a while. Thanks for the tips on Eaton Bike Rentals and the beach near the Truman Annex! The home was very charming and really felt like a Conch House that was treated with care. The artwork throughout the home, along with the artist descriptions, made us feel right at home. Couple of things that we think would add to the experience and would be inexpensive are: portable fans in bedrooms to kill (the considerable) street noise at night so that we don't need to put on the air conditioners (saves electricity too), a docking station for IPOD's, especially in the kitchen area so that we can listen to music while cooking or in other areas, better kitchen knives and some platters.

We found the listing accurate, very clean and well maintained and would recommend to others-thank you! Wish I could have stayed the whole time!

Casa Blanca 1888

All I can say is this house was fantastic! The house has every modern amenity you could want, but still has that wonderful, historic charm that homes in that area are known for. The location of the house is perfect, being about an equal distance to both downtown Duval and the beaches. The pool and outdoor patio are huge compared to other rentals that we have experienced in that area. We had plenty of sun at the pool all day long and spent many days there just enjoying the beautiful weather. To top it off, there is a grocery store less than a block away as well as a fantastic Italian restaurant right down the street that we visited several times while we were there. Overall the house was exactly as advertised. The pictures in the listing make the house look amazing, but it is even better in person. The property was clean and very well maintained and I can honestly say that we will be back in the near future.

Wellington, Florida

I recently did a girl’s getaway in paradise, also known as Casa Blanca. The home was full of fantastic keys art, centrally located so that a car is not necessary, and comfortable enough to feel like a home away from home. This home was set up for people of all ages with as many needs. Bedrooms and bathrooms both up and down stairs and privacy a plenty. The house was clean and provided for all my personal needs as well as daily fun needs. The lush tropical feel of the gardens just added to that feel that you were in paradise. I was able to travel the entire Key West on a bike provided by the owners and found great beaches, stores to shop and fantastic museums and art and history. I totally enjoyed visiting with the " locals" as they too knew of Casa Blanca and made me welcome to their keys lives and introduced me to other local Key residents to talk and spend time with. I encourage you to see Mallory Square at sunset, the Pelican Poop (don't forget to tour the garden) and the Cafe vegetarian restaurant. These were my favorites. If time allows you must also tour the Dry Tortugas on the ferry.

Casa Blanca 1888

Staying at Casa Blanca 1888 provided my family and friends memories that we will cherish for a lifetime! This spacious historic home, beautifully decorated and accented with stunning Key West art gave us a wonderful sanctuary close to all there is to see and do. The large kitchen and dining area made cooking local seafood and enjoying meals together a delight. Relaxing by the heated pool with orchids in bloom, feeling the ocean breezes through the windows, star gazing and viewing sun rises from the master bedroom, are all part of melting into the relaxing wonderful atmosphere of Casa Blanca. Using the bikes provided we pedaled a short distance to enjoy Key West shops, wonderful bars and restaurants, and of course the famous sunsets at Mallory Square. Experiencing the incredible sights, music, and way of life of this paradise will long be a part of my life’s list of “I’m glad I did that.” Casa Blanca 1888 provides a luxurious relaxing escape, close to all that Key West has to offer!

wonderful private place to stay

We frequent key west at least 5 times a year this was the best place we have ever stayed. The home was immaculate the pool was so refreshing on a hot afternoon.

Bruce was great checked with us to see if everything was good. I would highly recommend staying at the white street house it is large enough that a whole family could stay there and not feel crowded.

thanks again to the whole team for making our stay wonderful.

Sharon , 08/08/2009

White Street House

I had the pleasure of staying in the White Street House for 21/2 months in 2008. Once I called this home I never wanted to leave. Every detail the owner has addressed, from the furnishings, linens and the electronics. The very private back yard and the pool is one of the largest in Key West. Great off street parking for two or more cars is invaluable in Old Town. I also loved the location close to Duval St, restaurants, grocery, shopping, tennis courts, gym and beach. A beautiful property and a great owner to rent from.
