Thinking about adding Cuba to your passport stamps, but not ready to make a commitment to an extended vacation just yet? Our concierge has designed the perfect day trip to add “visit Cuba” to your Key West vacation itinerary, allowing you to get a taste of Havana but returning you to Key West by sunset.
Wake up in your Last Key vacation home in Key West, hop on your semi-private charter flight to Cuba, spend the day exploring and be back in time to enjoy dinner and drinks on Duval St.
A Day in Havana
TRAVEL: Your day will begin at 7 AM for check-in at the Key West airport. The flight for Havana departs at 8 AM and takes approximately 50 minutes to fly the 90 miles south.
EXPLORE HEMINGWAY’S ESTATE: Once you’ve cleared customs, you’ll be met by the local guide and will begin exploring La Finca Vigia (Hemingway’s Country Estate). This is your chance to take a glimpse back in time and see where the famed author withdrew to during his years living between Cuba and Key West – and if you’ve ever visited The Hemingway House in Key West – compare the two monumental properties. Spoiler alert: Hemingway’s famous boat “Pilar” is on site.
LUNCH: When lunch time rolls around, you’ll take a pleasant ride into the fishing village of Cojimar for a mid-day meal at Ajiaco for an authentic Cuban meal. While here, get a glimpse of the “Hemingway Bust” the village people erected.
EXPLORE OLD HAVANA: Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, it’s time to explore Old Havana. You’ll have a chance to visit some of Hemingway’s old hangouts: Hotel Ambos, Mundos, La Floridita, the Cathederal, Parque Central, and La Bodeguita del Medio.
SHOP: Stop for souvenirs (maybe some authentic Cuban cigars or rum) on your way back to the airport. The returning flight to Key West departs at 5 PM and you’re home by 6 PM.

Each month we receive so many great reviews and fun photos from our guests. We select our favorite review and/or photo for that month and give away a $100 cash card to the guest with the winning submission. This month, like every month, it was difficult choosing only one winner.
Drum roll please…
Our April 2017 Review/Photo of the Month is the Steiner Family, who were guests of ours at :: THE ROYAL COMPOUND :: for a month. They submitted a glowing five-star review for their stay and also shared some awesome photos of themselves enjoying the vacation home. Thank you Steiner Family!
What an awesome review! We’re so happy to know that these guests were taken care of by their Guest Services Coordinator, Amanda, and that they had an enjoyable month-long stay.
From the photos below, you can see that the Family had a wonderful birthday celebration during their month in Key West, and really enjoyed spending time together in the pool.
Seeing these fantastic moments of our guests’ vacations reminds us just how lucky we are to be doing what we do and to live in such a magical place!
Future guests are encouraged to share their fun photos/videos of their vacation and/or submit a memorable review for their stay to be automatically entered in the monthly contest and for a chance to win a $100 cash card. You could be our May winner…
Key West is BACK IN ACTION and ready to welcome all Conch lovers from around the world!
Key West has always been a little left of center, and so it was with Irma, which passed 20 miles to the East of us.
We are thankful, but wish the best for our brothers and sisters in the middle keys, where the impact was greater.
Key West is back to normal (whatever that is) and better than ever, so come take it easy - enjoy your favorite restaurants (all open!), visit your favorite watering holes (all ready to pour your drinks!), take a dip in our beautiful waters and catch some fish & some rays of sunshine.
If you've always loved Key West, there's never been a better time to come! If you have a reservation with us after October 1, 2017 - we are ready and awaiting your arrival unless you have heard from us directly stating otherwise.
